Using 57c48e4973ac0dad09744eaa82315a5f023094e7, built with --disable-udev.
After un-docking I now get the following xrandr output, which matches my
expectations.
$ xrandr

VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
I will get you a full log and more symptoms on the freezing behaviour as well.
