Same problem here, Lenovo Thinkpad X1. Worked fine up to 3.16.4, but since
3.17.0 the Fn-backlight controls no longer work. The controls do register in
xev however.

I made same dmesg and i915 opregions files, too, and I can attach them if
needed.
