Unfortunately even running a 3.14 (kernel 3.14.0-031400-generic) kernel this
popped up again last night - Jan 12 19:43:52 localhost kernel: [11781.820024]
[drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... render ring
idle

All I saw was a black screen with mouse cursor could not CTRL-ALT-F1 out of it.
Mouse cursor would move however the keyboard was totally inactive. I've since
downgraded to 3.13.0-44-generic #73-Ubuntu SMP. This issue is so intermittent
that I fear if I ran any kernel debugging I'd have gigabytes of data.
