Just to bump this up:

Asus T102HA Ubuntu 18.04 bug is still present.

journalctl -b -1 | grep -i pwm
Jul 14 17:57:11 MateTablet kernel:  (null): Device [PWM1] is in always present
list
Jul 14 17:57:11 MateTablet kernel: [drm:pwm_setup_backlight [i915]] *ERROR*
Failed to own the pwm chip
