So this is with Arch's vanilla 5.0 kernel:

As an aside, I'm also asking other users in the Lenovo forum thread
(https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/Linux-on-Ideapad-D330/m-p/4378118#M12729)
to compare their VBT data to what I've attached here to see if there are
differences among the 1280x800 SKUs.
