They work here when applied on top of 2.4.1 together with your two "avoid 
duplicate ..." patches. What's interesting is that on my computer, they also 
hide (or properly solve?) this bug:

However, this bugzilla entry also mentions a trade-off against 
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13252 - please make sure you 
don't reintroduce it (I can't test this bug).
