It is a really good sign (at least to me) that the four non-kernel
components of this recommended graphics stack are immediately available as
Debian unstable packages. That makes life much easier for Debian testers of
this release.

I have a question for the Debian X maintainers lurking on this list. As far
as I can tell, the Debian changelog for kernel-2.6.30 does not mention any
of the 8 recommended graphics patches. So is there any chance that the
Debian kernel maintainers would be convinced to patch the official Debian
kernel with those 8 patches or will I have to build my own patched kernel
(or wait for kernel-2.6.31 to make it into Debian unstable)? (I have a G33
chipset.)

I hasten to add this is a somewhat theoretical question for now since I plan
to wait to test the new Intel graphics stack until all the above components
get promoted to Debian testing, and that may be several months away because
of a major issue with the promotion of the associated linux-kbuild-2.6
package. However, when that graphics staff (including kernel) promotion
occurs, I plan to help out with testing of the new Intel graphics stack.
For now, I am reasonably content with the traditional non-kernel Intel
graphics stack that is available for Debian stable using XAA although
I realize its days are numbered.
