Hi,
Today I fired up my external VGA and used xrandr to get dualhead.
Unfortunately, the native resolution disappeared from xrandr listings,
and I couldn't manage to get my beloved 1280x1024 mode.
Here is the output from xrandr -q:
$ xrandr -q
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 2048 x 2048
VGA1 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
1024x768 60.0 +
800x600 60.3
640x480 59.9
LVDS1 connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 0mm x 0mm
1024x768 60.0*+ 60.0
800x600 60.3
640x480 59.9
TV1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
The funny thing is, even if I booted with i915.modeset=0, only these
three default modes showed up.
I have an X41 Tablet with i915GM, linux-2.6.30-rc8,
xorg-server-1.6.1.901, xf86-video-intel-2.7.1
External VGA is a ViewSonic VP730, and it works fine with nvidia.
thanks,
Adam
