Jonathan wrote the following guide [1] when I needed to build my own
Linux kernel.

        $ sudo aptitude install git build-essential
        $ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
        $ cd linux
        $ make localmodconfig; # minimal configuration
        $ make deb-pkg; # can add -j<n> for parallel build
        $ sudo dpkg -i ../<name of package>
        $ sudo reboot

Thanks,

Paul
