Hey guys:

My dad and I were discussing DisplayLink earlier this evening. I am merely a power-user, but my dad is a software engineer. He knows enough about graphics (from years as a GUI specialist) to be able to understand some of what you are doing. However, he is no graphics guru. Even so, he suggested something that makes a lot of sense.

He suggested that you try to create a virttual VGA adapter for DisplayLink. If you did that, then we could, theoretically, see the display under "Displays" in the System > Preferences folder on GNOME or KDE. This would also obviate the need for crazy Xinerama or XRandR stuff -- because it would, ostensibly, behave like any VGA, HDMI, or DVI monitor plugged into the mainboard.

As always, I submit this with the utmost respect for you. You may have already thought of doing this, and could very well be working on this exact solution. I'm merely offering it because this is what I would like to see happen, so you can accept it as positive and constructive feedback.

Thank you for all of your hard work. I'm looking forward to the day, soon, when the green is replaced with every color under the rainbow!

Yours,

Sammy
