Ooops, I realized I gave you bad advice here.  None of the
"displaylink" X servers will be happy with no EDID, so that won't
work.

You'll want to use the xf86-video-fbdev code with damage support
instead (the is the newest stuff anyway -- the expectation is to get
rid of the need for a separate displaylink X server).
