[Libdlo] Driving a 3D display with DL adapters?

Hello everyone,

I've been just trying to make sense of the HDMI 1.4 spec and my head
hurts slightly. Here at the university, we've just received a big
Full-HD 3D plasma screen and I was wondering if it might be possible to
generate a suitable HDMI signal with one of the higher-end Displaylink
devices?

Example: to get the full 1920x1080 resolution in 3D, the display would
(AFAICT) require a signal of

1920 x (1080*2+45) pixels at 30 Hertz,

i.e., double vertical resolution plus 45 pixels of blanking space
in-between.

Ignoring the absurd fact that there's still blanking space in a digital
video signal, could a DL device be tweaked into producing such an
output?

Thanks, Florian

P.S. I haven't yet looked at the EDID tables of the display, but I'm
already pretty sure that they'll be a totally useless mess for this
application scenario.
