I think udhcpd lack support for IPv6 (at least it used to do) so nowadays I always use odhcpd.

Yeah, Huawei implement DHCP while some D-link and Sierra devices does not.
It should not say 'must not' it should say 'does not need to'. :-)

I assume none of my firmwares implements MBIM then.

udhcpc is a client. An MBIM must give out it's IP-configuration, however it must not implement DHCP.
So then one will need to parse the device configuration and set up a DHCP-server AFAIK.

Which DHCP daemon do you guys recommend to use with MBIM (since it is not mandatory for the devices to support DHCP)?
I am considering udhcpd in busybox.
