Just gave that a try:

$ mmcli -m 0 --simple-connect="ip-type=ipv4,apn=LTEMOBILE.APN"
error: couldn't connect the modem:
'GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.libqmi.Error.Protocol.PolicyMismatch: QMI
protocol error (79): 'PolicyMismatch''

Could that error mean something else?
