Hi, Louis and Jehan.

I just looked at Canada and Germany, and, in both places, reimbursement for
travel is not deductible from income (or, alternatively, free travel
received is taxable) in many cases when the travel is not business-related.
Both also have withholding regimes.

If I am in the British Virgin Islands, will Germany withhold some
percentage of the international wire transfer when sending me the money? I
expect so. But if I am in Canada, I'm not sure. I think that's what Frank
is asking about.

(A W8BEN form will mean no USA withholding tax will be taken from the
transfers from a USA sponsor to a non-us recipient, if that recipient is in
a tax domicile that has a tax treaty with the USA.)

Soenke, could you confirm if K8 transfers to people outside Germany, or
outside the EU, or anywhere, are subject to a German withholding tax, and
if there is a similar form to remove that withholding?
