Hi all,
I decided to massage the CoC a bit to try to make it a little more organized and structured. There is little change in the content, mostly just some occasional rewording and mainly rearranging. See what you think:
Code of Conduct
Introduction
Since its early beginnings in 2006, the Libre Graphics Meeting (LGM) has been a melting pot where free software developers, practitioners and artists from all over the world have a chance to meet each other, exchange ideas, and plan the future of Free, Libre and Open Source graphics. The meeting encourages participation: free to attend, it is open to all.
Rationale
We intend LGM to be an event that inspires mutual respect, collaboration and exchange. The LGM Code of Conduct states our shared ideas about the desired behaviour of participants and organisers. This document refers to conduct at all aspects of the actual meeting, and also communication on the LGM mailing lists and IRC channels.
The Libre Graphics community is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all participants, regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, appearance, impairment, religion, or technical ability. We want participants to know that if they experience something they are not comfortable with, their concerns will be taken seriously, and that help is available. We also want the organizers to know the standard to which the LGM community holds itself, and what to do when an issue arises.
We accept that people have differences of opinion, that they communicate these in various ways, and that social norms may vary across cultures. Consider this as you interact with others at LGM. We encourage you to speak openly and courteously with each other when you see, experience or speak about conduct that might be unwelcome. You may find that a misunderstanding has occurred, in which case we expect you to be able to work things out between yourselves whenever possible, in a respectful manner. Feel free to seek the advice of a mutually trusted third party. This having been said, harassment is not tolerated in any form.
Procedures
* Before the selection of a location, there will be inquiry to discern if local laws are compatible with the CoC.
* The local organizing team will appoint dedicated contact person(s), whose names will be displayed on the LGM website prior to the meeting.
* Any attendee who feels threatened or violated as a result of intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning conduct, or witnesses such behaviour, should immediately notify the contact person(s).
* Contact person(s) will then follow up on each issue brought to their attention, with as much communication as is necessary to understand the nature of the problem and its resolution.
* When necessary, additional measures will be taken, which may include removing someone from the premises or other communication channels.
