[LGM] Cancel LGM please

That is true, and, indeed, over half a million people died during last
year's event, but I don't think that that is a sufficient reason in itself
to stop meeting. There is certainly respect due to the dead, but this
respect must be proportional. The world is no better off if we all sit on
our hands until death is permanently defeated or allow emotion to
short-circuit rational decision-making processes.

It may be impossible if so many eminent regular attendees remain
steadfastly opposed to participating, but I don't think that there's
anything immoral about deferring a decision pending better and more timely
information. I hope that you will at least consider keeping an open mind.
It doesn't cost us anything.
