I can confirm that there is no comprehensible notification by the Orca
screenreader when encountering a comment in a Writer document.

If I arrow through a paragraph letter by letter, and get to the point after
where the comment is inserted, Orca reads "Object replacement character".
That's it.

These are my specs:
Version: 6.1.2.1
Build ID: 1:6.1.2-0ubuntu1.1
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.18; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; 
Locale: nl-NL (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group threaded
