Paul, please attach a sample document, as this makes it easier to understand
what do you mean by "plain text used as footnote markers". And why don't you
use footnote anchors? You can easily customize them in Tools > Footnotes
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' once the requested document is provided.
