Answer from help of LO 6.4 [1]

Horizontal pitch
Displays the distance between the left edges of adjacent labels or business
cards. If you are defining a custom format, enter a value here.

Vertical pitch
Displays the distance between the upper edge of a label or a business card and
the upper edge of the label or the business card directly below. If you are
defining a custom format, enter a value here.

So please specify, why this is unclear (Perhaps you're using an older version

But if it is clear, your're idea is to add a tooltip, right?
