In other words:
CORRECT BEHAVIOUR
When the numbering style is applied from the "List styles" tab (by
double-clicking), the "Numbering style > Position> Position and Spacing"
properties control the indents of the paragraph, and the "Paragraph style >
Indent and spacing > Indent" properties become disabled—AS EXPECTED.
BUGGY BEHAVIOUR
When the numbering style is linked to the paragraph via "Paragraph style >
Outline and Numbering > Numbering", the "Paragraph style > Indent and spacing >
Indent" properties SHOULD be disabled, BUT AREN'T. The result is that the
Indent settings in the "Numbering style" dialogue are not being applied
correctly, but are interacting in some way with the Paragraph style indents.
UNEXPECTED.
