Interestingly, the Zoom slider is my another favorite area that I'd like
to hack on, or help somebody who is interested in hacking it ;-)

I believe the Zoom slider is one of the most used tools overall, and as
such, it is blocking hiding the status bar by default. My idea I'd be
happy to have feedback on is to make it vertical, move it above the
vertical scrollbar, and hide the status bar by default. For the
additional functionality, there might be a button similar to the
navigator button that would lead to the additional functionality. Could
we do something like that? Christoph, if you generally agree with this,
could you do a mockup?

[BTW - why _above_ the vertical scrollbar? Because we are hiding the
scrollbars when they are not necessary, but obviously, the zoom tool
should be always visible, and on the same location.]

I am sure we can have such follow-up activity, [for me] ideally as
described above :-) I have pushed Samuel's patch, we can always bring
it back if we don't get to the zoom slider improvement, I hope it's OK?

Thank you,
