As the problem seems to be "feedback for user", why not indicate the 
real size in the font size list ?

For example, if the official size is 48 and the real size is 32, the 
font size list would show :
48 (32)

 From a technical point of view, it might be simpler to implement than 
adding an icon near the textbox.
