It does. For example, edit a cell to contain "foo bar baz", then format only
the words "bar baz" to bold, then select the word "baz" and choose context menu
Default.

In Calc there are two different formattings, formats applied to the entire cell
and in-cell formats applied to portions of text. If in-cell attributes are
applied the cell content is a rich text edit-cell, otherwise it is a simple
string text-cell. Applying in-cell Default does not overwrite a whole-cell
attribute, so if you format the entire cell as bold the in-cell Default does
not have any effect.
