The idea to sort a list makes sense in general. But that requires to show this
information (so it would be actually a table) or to have a very clear
distinctive criteria (like font list).
As for styles it is recommended to use it sparingly - and filter the list. And
I think it's easy to pick the right item out of 10. You probably would dislike
the resorting very much. And ultimately the approach with a leading character
is efficient.
