It seems like the manual method with the leading character is working nicely
for me with Applied Styles.

One point of frustration I now notice is that the list defaults to hierarchical
when loading the document. So, it doesn't default to last view. It is not that
inconvenient but just an extra step to go through when editing. Is that setting
something you can alter to be saved with the document or sidebar settings?
