Thank you for the reply. While removing the thumbnails will certainly hide the
graphic, it doesn't restore the privacy of the user. Perhaps having the
option to open displaying the Templates would achieve the level of discretion
I'm advocating for here while preserving the Start Center splash screen.

E.g., I do tutoring or coaching small businesses and families using computers
for work or personal needs. While Macs offer individual sandboxing for user
accounts, this feature is rarely used in shared systems. Hence the staff or
family are all logged in under one user account - or working in relatively
close proximity to one another.

Working on documents with sensitive names (Financial, Medical, Legal) for these
customers has brought up my question. Wandering eyeballs are not so much the
issue as simply launching Libreoffice and document names are immediately
front-and-center.

Alternatives for the customers to use, such as Numbers and Pages default to a
screen showing the last used saved path (folder, such as Desktop). While not
ideal, it is a bit more discrete. Microsoft Word and Excel default to blank
documents.

The default behavior of the app would have never been an item of concern to me
personally until it was brought to my attention IRL. Now I can't unsee it :)

thanks again for the reply. I'll see if customers are more at ease with file
listings unless you think I should revise my feature request to request
Templates as an opening option rather than Recent Documents. Is there a plist
flag where this can be defined?
