To start with something positive: I like the idea to develop the Tabbed Compact
UI into a simplified UI (see bug 163477). It addresses the needs from users who
don't know about styles and would not use it- like Benjamin writing a letter.

The Home tab as proposed serves for text formatting (limited to basic DF). Now
I wonder as well what is needed to Insert, if/why we need Layout, References,
Review, what could be done under View and Tools. I doubt this UI needs
Extensions.

Technically we can increase the margins but have to stick to the same controls.
Changing the UI is also not feasible.
