There are other grammar checkers, especially Lightproof, written in Python,
which provide a toolkit to build your own grammar checker, which can
retrieve informations from the Hunspell dictionaries (Hunspell and
Lightproof were both created by László Németh).

Few months ago, László told me he was planning to write a LanguageTool to
Lightproof converter. I don’t know when it will be ready as he seemed busy
with some other stuff.
Based on Lightproof, there is the Hungarian and the French grammar checker,
and may be others.
