Hi, I'm speaking to you as a user, not as a programmer.
I also use LO and as you noticed MS Office compatibility is quite bad.
The damage is already done and can't do anything, but here some tips to
avoid it next time.
For next time I recommend you to use the LO odt format (should work fine).
If you desperately want to use docx, recommend you to use WPS office.
Autosave time is not so easy, each 1-2 s could work on a SSD hard drive
with small documents, if you're using a HDD with a large file you could
kill yourself. If I'm not wrong you can't edit while it saves because it
has to freeze memory and copy it to the file (+ translation to xml). So it
would be very slow, so do not expect it. There may be a better way to do it
as you save, but google drive is cloud technologie and MS Word closed
technologie.
Save your file sometimes, do not wait to the last minut, won't kill you.
