LightDM provides the list of available users using either
AccountsService (if available) or using the getpwent syscall.
AccountsService also uses getpwent afaik. If you can configure your
system to provide LDAP users via this syscall (which I've seen
indications is possible) then you should see your LDAP list. The other
option is to have the greeter be able to access this list directly and
not use the list from LightDM.

at http://launchpad.net/lightdm-gtk-greeter if you want this feature.
