FWIW, it doesn't do that per se; it simply writes all available options
into ~/.drirc, regardless of whether they're changed from the default
value or not.

I agree, but that's orthogonal to Ian's request (which I support), which
is that this setting should be controllable via ~/.drirc, mostly because
that allows per-app configuration.

It doesn't seem like many people are still using or even know about the
driconf app anymore.
