It's not my call really, so sharing some misc ideas:

 - please update other version references
There's one in .travis.yml and [ideally] another in the docs

 - we [try to] check for the oldest distros that support foo-bar vX
and add that in the commit message
No extensive list, mostly the more conservative ones
