FWIW, I recommend using single quotes around $LIB:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH='/some/chroot/usr/$LIB/'
LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH='/some/chroot/usr/$LIB/dri'

Otherwise the shell will substitute it with the wrong thing.
