Sorry again for letting this hang and alienating you. I appreciate you pinging this as it had completely dropped off my radar on accident. We did have an internal discussion about this, but it ended vaguely in dissent, though it's not totally clear _why_ some of our collaborators did not like the approach.

I think this is worth pursuing, though, so I will bring it up again in our group discussion. Thanks again for providing the patch, and I will let you know if we need your help with this moving forward.
