There are a few things that tipped me over:
 - compute shaders (and hence the issue) are available in nearly every driver
 - the original size concern is NA since ~1/5 of the patch is comments/license
 - it's required for f76bea8abc1..62eb86dd4cc
 - and last but not least - Ilia produces a number of good patches

Nice one - thanks Andres!

Appveyour seemed happy, yet that's because the new test isn't wired with it.
Let me see if I can sort that out.
