Hi.

I've been struggling for 2 years with this horrible rs690m chipset which
hosts an x1270 graphics controller.

In my current setup, I've the latest (from GIT) xserver, mesa compile with
gallium support for r600, r300; running a custom kernel with KMS enabled by
default. I'm on Gentoo and have selected gallium for everything (r600, r300,
software render) using the eselect utility that Gentoo provides, kdm (i.e.
graphical applications) start fine, they they are too sluggish. glxgears
produces a blank window, that's it. There is no output to stdout regarding
FPS.

Using kernel 2.6.36 without an xorg.conf.

However on Debian I get 800 FPS on glxgears which's the highest I've ever
seen on this chip. From what I can see, Debian is using kms and they have
compiled mesa with gallium support and made it the default and using 2.6.32.
