[Mesa-users] OpenGL 3.2 with SWR?

I've been trying to troubleshoot this issue for a while and I think I'm just too inexperienced with linux. Did a fresh install of Ubuntu 15.10 desktop on my home system with an i5-3570k which Intel says has AVX. Updated ubuntu, installed packages, etc. Got the same result as I posted last week which was running on a VPS. I must be doing something wrong while installing dependencies, compiling or installing. I must've compiled mesa over 2 dozens times at this point following different guides and I'm still no closer to getting the result you posted, "OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on SWR". Everytime GALLIUM_DRIVER=swr is used it goes straight to softpipe.


Is there a step by step guide I can follow to build and install mesa with OpenSWR from a fresh Ubuntu/Debian installation? Or pre-built packages like the oibaf ppa but including OpenSWR?

When you configure with both llvmpipe (swrast) and swr, llvmpipe will be the default.  To force OpenSWR to get used, set the GALLIUM_DRIVER=swr environment variable.  For example:
