For anyone struggling with this bug, I haven't gotten a crash yet with Ubuntu
14.04's linux-image-3.13.0-58-generic kernel (Ubuntu version 3.13.0-58.97) over
the last four days.

Maybe it'll reproduce again, but at the very this kernel version looks much
more stable.
