This is caused by supertux not recognizing the max mipmap level, and is 
an app bug.
Try to enable the extra mipmap level option in driconf.

Yes, while a huge number of bugs are fixed,  there might be bugs still 
lurking, but now they should be fixable. The 3D driver even runs with 
K8M800, although with a little less texture quality.

Yes, Are the 2D bugs you're seeing only present when you have a 3D app 
running?
