Yes the xorg driver is not aware of the KMS kernel just yet. I believe 
Ubuntu uses a special xorg and kernel driver from VIA. There is a 
buffer allocation issue I'm trying to fix on the kernel side. Once that is 
done the xorg driver could be made ready to use the new GEM/TTM hooks in 
the drm-openchrome kernels. In that case we will be using the DRI2 apis 
:-)
