FYI -- I got a Puppy developer (he goes by the handle 666philb on the Puppy
Forum, I don't know his real name) to bodge together a version of TahrPup 6.0.2
(the target Puppy here) with the kernel and Xorg stuff from Precise Puppy 5.7.1
Retro, and lo and behold I get working video.

That pretty well isolates this as Not A Puppy Quirk (there's plenty of those to
be had, unfortunately) which we pretty well already knew but I thought I'd
mention it here anyways.

I'm very much still interested in trying to work out what the issue is that's
breaking the driver on this hardware in later revisions... but I wanted to keep
you guys in the loop as well :)
