--- Comment #311 from Christopher <laserhawk64 at gmail.com> ---
As the line from an old TV show would go -- "Vat eez dees 'ubuntu' yoo speek
ov?" (If you don't get it at first -- read it, out loud or otherwise, imagining
yourself to be a stereotypical German of some sort of distinguished military
position. My apologies for the apparent ethnic insensitivity...)

You don't need Ubuntu for this. You don't need any Linux other than Puppy, in
fact (presuming that git works on Windows and Mac, which I'm sure it does) --
and even then, only on the target system. For the record, I believe what I did
to get Git is to install the package providing support for it from the Puppy
Package Manager, as present within X-Tahr 1b3 on a system where graphics
actually work (in my case, a Dell e4310 laptop)...

In any case...

Please re-read my report of what I did, given in my last comment, as if it were
a set of instructions. Follow them, and let me know what happens at the end --
does it still work for you? Not so much? "Survey sez!" The people want to
know... or at least one of them does ;)

Links and pointers to all build dependencies (environment included) are at the
bottom of that comment, with most of the rest being the procedure... everything
you need should be there, though.

While I await your report back, I will hold onto $20 of my disposable income
for this month --a pronounced difficulty-- so that, should your attempt to
follow those instructions come out differently --or not happen at all-- I can
at least have some way of verifying that I've not somehow managed to get faulty
hardware. It's happened before, once (and with a very different system and
circumstance) -- but once is all it takes ;)

Paraphrasing a line from a truly awful comedy film (my father likes it -- and
that's all that needs to be said) by the name of 'Arthur' -- "I look forward to
your next comment with great eagerness." ;)
