You got me wrong, the dri module needs to be loaded, the 'Load "dri"'
line in the Modules section must not be commented. And you also need to
have this in the conf :
Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection
But you must first successfully compile and load the drm modules. May be
you are missing the kernel headers ? Don't know what distro you are
using so I can't really help here.

X might be able to set the resolution if your monitor is sending correct
informations. If it works with the modeline, I don't see any reason to
change the way you've done it now. If it ain't broken, don't fix it ;-)

When you've fixed the drm modules pb.

That's fine with me, it's just to keep the discussion in the archives in
the hope it helps other ppl with similar pbs.

Just don't answer at the top of the mail, but rather below the part you
are answering to. That's what you've done this time so all is well. It's
also considered good behaviour to cut the unneeded parts of the quoted mail.
