The trick is that (h_sync_end - h_sync_start) (The 1760 and 1504 in the 
modeline below) must be  <= 256. Also the clock (108.00) must be in the 
table in via_mode.h.

You might try the below modeline (with the usual disclaimers that it 
might ruin your monitor etc., and it is not my fault.)

ModeLine "1440x900" 108.00 1440 1504 1760 1852 900 902 914 940 #58kHz H 
62Hz V
