Ok stop right there. :)

You are trying to install the VIA binary drivers. Not the open source drivers. 
This is the mailing list for the open source drivers.

The questions you need to answer are:-
1. What distro are you using.
2. What software do you want to run.
3. What drivers do you want to install.

The answer to 1 will determine whether you can actually use the VIA binary 
drivers at all, and whether you need to. (i.e. your distro may already have 
all the drivers you need.)

The answer to 2 will determine what you answer for 3. :) 

If you want to achieve mpeg playback acceleration and you choose the VIA 
binary drivers you will not be able to use MythTV, and your only choice of 
software will be to obtain and try to compile use VeXP or VeMP.

Using the opensource drivers, the current versions of mythtv and xine just 
work, and mplayer will work with a patch.
