FYI There is a mythtv-vid branch that should fix the handling of
allocation failures, but no one with the proper VIA hardware has
tested it so it is just languishing there...

Anon, you should try out the mythtv-vid branch and report on
your success or failure if you are interested in having this
fixed in the next release of MythTV.
