Re: #54: CN400 cannot display HDTV	mpeg2 video
Hi Daniel. I tried your mythtv-vid branch branch but could not get it to work. Proabably my fault... but here is what happened..

My configuration is a Commel LV667 (1GHZ C3, 1GB memory, CN400 video, HD5000 ASTC HDTV card ), running current FC5.
I first built the current Mythtv SVN to establish a fresh baseline. Same result as previously reported - selecting Via XVMC in playback settings and watching HDTV results in a blue screen. Xorg log shows that the driver ran out of memory for surfaces. HDTV Playback using software decoding is very choppy - it pauses every 1/4 second.. However the HDTV card works fine, and the MPEG2 streams it records are perfect.

Using current Xine I was able to play back the HD streams that had been recorded my Myth (selecting xxmc video output) with ~10% CPU loading, showing that my via drivers, DRM etc are all working properly.

Then I switched to the mythtv-vid branch, rebuilt mythtv, killed and rebuilt the mysql database, mythtv-setup, etc. The new mythtv playback settings pages are completely different. I like the idea - selecting the playback method depending on the resolution and the CPU speed. Unfortunately it doesnt seem to be fully operational. The playback settings cannot be edited, so its impossible to select the Via XVMC decoder in any profile. That is, you can select it but the selection isn't being recorded. I looked around for the code for these new functions but have not found it. If you can point me to it I'll see if I can fix the problems.

Thanks for working on this. I've had the LV667 for almost a year and have never been able to get Mythtv/HDTV to work. The opechrome driver has matured in that time, so I can get great decode performance in other video tools, but unfortunately not Myth.
