I suspect you can't get 1024x768Over because there isn't a CRT version 
of the mode with hsync between 28-33kHz, the default hsync range assumed 
by X if you don't say. I think you need to put in a spec for a monitor 
which could do 1024x768 even if you don't have one; try putting 
HorizSync 28-50 in the monitor section.
