As said, it can take a while before it locks up.  But mostly right 
from the start you'll see "broken" surfaces, "scratches", strange 
shimmering colors, things like that.  If everything looks smooth, 
even after several restarts, and also after doing something else 3D 
in between, then things are probably okay.

You mean the screensavers interfere with the game, breaking in on 
it?  Or does it just run slower when the saver kicks in?  That last 
thing would be normal.
